For almost 20 years Healing Gourmet has been publishing research and education about the power of foods and nutrients to promote health and protect against disease.
It's hard for me to believe we've been at this for so long!
And as you might know, a big part of our mission is to prove that you can still enjoy ALL your favorite comfort foods - without harming your health. It just takes a few simple substitutions, some smart recipe hacks, and the use of what we call "intelligent ingredients."
But just because we've made it easy for you... doesn't mean it's been easy for us.
When we began developing recipes for low-glycemic, grain and gluten-free comfort foods, there were no recipes to follow. There were no products on supermarket shelves that we could model. It was all trial and error. Lots of trials. And lots of errors.
Take waffles for example...
We've been creating and testing grain-free / low-carb waffle recipes for more than a decade. Many were flops. Some were really good. And a few were great.
But none were quite so delicious - and so perfectly authentic - as the one below...
We created this waffle in the test kitchen of our sister company Wellness Bakeries. And it is the result of a happy accident with a "secret ingredient".
